Teach Me...I Will By Tyson McMillan

Teach Me….I Will

A Conglomerate Perspective

And the student said “Teach Me”

For I don’t have a computer at home

The textbooks are too expensive for me to buy alone

In my family, I am the first to attend college.

My pockets are empty but my heart is full.

Teach me what you know.

And the teacher said.

Come as you are to the place of learning

For a heart full of anticipation to learn

Is better than full pockets with no anticipation

For every dream starts with the initial spark of the first.

You may be the first to attend college,

But you shall set the example for many others to follow

You ask me to teach you what I know…

Do not be surprised if I learn from you as well.

Teach you, with all of my heart. “I will.”

And the student said…

I have a family to support at home

I work 40 hours a week for the Federal Government

I am returning to school after a several year hiatus

Also, I am a military veteran

Will you teach me as well?

And the teacher said...

Thank you for your service.

Teach you, with all of my heart. “I will.”

And the student said…

I had a child at a young age

Each day I balance my life responsibilities with my educational responsibilities

I love education, but my child comes first.

Will you teach me as well?

And the teacher said...

I understand.

Teach you, with all of my heart. “I will.”

And the student said…

My family is not always supportive as they could be

I am here to make a change in my life for the better

This week, I am in-between jobs.

Will you teach me?

And the Student said to the other Student, “Stay encouraged, for you can make it!”

And the teacher said...

Agreed!

Teach you, with all of my heart. “I will.”

And the student said…

I bring to you the unique perspective of my culture

I have traveled the world.

Will you teach me?

And the teacher said...

Wonderful!

Teach you, with all of my heart. “I will.”

And the student said…

College is more difficult than high school, but still fun.

I am having a tough transition between the two right now.

Will you teach me as well?

And the teacher said...

Not so long ago, I was in the same boat.

I understand, I will guide you, and I believe in you.

For I will share with you the ways that eased my transition.

This transition is but one brief period on your road to success.

Teach you, with all of my heart. “I will.”
